The transportation planning section strives to better manage traffic congestion and provide residents with increased mobility choices.Our transportation planning staff, along with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), municipalities, and developers, works to enhance and upgrade the road system serving the county.This section consults with PennDOT on the formation and revision of the Pennsylvania Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for funding various transportation improvements.Other transportation improvements emerge out of the land development process.The county has been working with various partners in the development of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to make better use of available roads in meeting various transportation challenges.Our transportation planners work closely with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in an effort to improve service throughout the county.They also work with transportation management agencies (TMAs) to address additional transportation demands and to coordinate mobility enhancement efforts.Click here for major transportation planning projects.
