A management plan is being developed for the Upper Wissahickon Watershed in Montgomery County to demonstrate the critical area planning process established under Act 220 of 2002—The Pennsylvania Water Resources Planning Act—and the special area management plan process recommended through the Pennsylvania Coastal Zone Management Program. Though the plan’s focus is water supply, it will pull together many of the different water resource activities currently being pursued in the watershed. The project is being managed by the Delaware River Basin Commission. The Montgomery County Planning Commission, Pennsylvania Environmental Council, and Temple University are involved in the plan preparation. The process will be guided by the Upper Wissahickon Watershed Advisory Committee.
