NYPD Home (New York City)
Members of the NYC Police Department who are beyond their two-year probationary periods can participate in NYPD Home, as long as applicants meet certain financial and credit requirements for mortgage approval and make this home their primary residence.  Participating lenders offer 95 percent to 100 percent mortgage financing to officers purchasing homes in New York City.  The lenders also contribute up to $3,500 per loan in closing costs.  In return, each homebuyer contributes at least 3-5 percent of the home’s final cost.  Click here for more information on this program.
 
University at Buffalo (New York)
The University at Buffalo has a Home Loan Guaranty Program to assist employees who want to purchase and renovate homes in the University Heights neighborhood surrounding the university.  Eligible employees can finance up to 120 percent of the purchase price of a home, which makes it possible to finance the entire purchase price, including renovation and closing costs.  A down payment is not required.  Eligible employees who take advantage of the program must apply for a mortgage loan from one of the university’s banking partners as well as attend a seminar on home buying.  For more information, visit the University at Buffalo Web site.
