What Is the Project?
The Lafayette Street Corridor Project will significantly improve access to Norristown and its riverfront, providing a transportation framework that will spur economic development.  It will:

Create a full electronic toll interchange with the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Reconstruct and widen existing Lafayette Street in Norristown and extend
   it to the interchange.

Build a half-diamond interchange with US 202 at the Dannehower
   Bridge/Markley Street.

The Lafayette Street Corridor Project has strong local, regional, state, and federal support, with the county acting as project manager.  The project is consistent with Norristown’s recently adopted plans, including the Norristown Economic Revitalization Strategy and the Redevelopment Area Plan for the Schuylkill Riverfront Development Area.
